Ottmann has been acting as advisor to the association since 2010 and, prior to that, he was a member of the German and international PM Awards jury for several years. As Chairman of Council of Experts of the IAPM, he is now able to apply his decades of project management experience in a more committed way to the IAPM.

Ottmann commented, “I’m delighted about the appointment because it gives me the opportunity to more effectively promote project management as a discipline that is strategically significant for every organisation – in an association that has a forward looking strategy and the courage to take new approaches.”

Project-oriented membership

Alternating experts who are members of the IAPM will be invited to sit on the Council of Experts, providing advice to the association on all project management-related issues such as research, training, certification and project manager career support. Experts from research and business will collaborate on specific projects and issues to facilitate the professional advancement of project management. They will also contribute to statements, position papers and other publications.

Roland Ottmann is author of numerous well-known project management publications and Managing Director of Ottmann & Partner GmbH Management Consulting. In his capacity as advisor to the association and a person who has played a key role in the development of its strategy, Ottmann has helped to raise awareness for the IAPM in Germany. He was a key contributor to the content of IAPM certification courses and played an important role in the development of the IAPM certification system, helping to develop a brand new, contemporary training and certification system for project managers.
