The IAPM is a globe-spanning association which contributes to the internationalisation of project management with its certifications. Now interested project managers can register for Certified International Project Manager (IAPM) certification. They are required to demonstrate their knowledge of an international project environment and, after passing the examination, they are issued an internationally recognised certificate with lifelong validity. The certification examination is based on the content of the “International PM Guide 2.0“, a reference work which can be downloaded free of charge from the IAPM website by IAPM certificate holders. “The IAPM wants to make knowledge freely available and to offer anyone with an interest in project management the opportunity to gain fast and effective insights into conventional, agile and international project management methods. We believe that our Guide is completely in touch with the times,“ explained Dr. Roland Ottmann,
who has been Chairman of the IAPM’s Council of Experts since 2012 and is the former chairman of the GPM board.
The IAPM uses its proven online examination system for International Project Manager (IAPM) certification. This means that the certification examination can be taken on any PC, eliminating the need for certification candidates to travel long distances to an examination centre and reducing logistics and costs for their companies. It has proven to be a very successful concept and people from 24 nations currently hold IAPM certification. The same certification examination procedure applies in all countries. The IAPM also offers project managers the opportunity to have their existing certificates recognised. Anyone who holds an equivalent certificate from another project management organisation can, subject to a detailed check, have it recognised by the IAPM. An equivalent IAPM certificate with unlimited validity will then be issued.
