IAPM certificates, on the other hand, still have life-long validity. The IAPM certificates are issued to people with proven project management experience and/or knowledge in a specific field of project management (traditional project management, agile project management, international project management) and confirm the certificate holders’ knowledge and/or competence at a specific point in time. We believe that recertifications serve, first and foremost, as a source of income for the recertification body. Like school examinations, diplomas and driving licenses, once the IAPM certification examination has been passed, the certificate is valid indefinitely. People who work in projects have to continue educating themselves and monitoring trends to keep up to date, otherwise they wouldn’t be good at their jobs. Rather than points and examinations, the IAPM keeps its project managers on the ball by organising Network Meetings for them, with presentations on relevant topics and guided tours, as well as the chance to network with other project managers.
Once you have invested in an IAPM certificate it’s yours for the rest of your life and you don’t have to worry about expiry dates and recertifications. That means you have more time to do what you enjoy doing: project management.
