Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act of 2015 (PMIAA)

Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act of 2015 (PMIAA) 20.12.2016 - US-President Barack Obama signed ‘The Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act of 2015 (PMIAA)’ into law on Wednesday 14th of December 2016.

This new law shall improve federal government project management of the United States of America by:

  • Creating a career path for project managers
  • Developing a standards-based model for project management
  • Designating a senior executive responsible for project and program management policy and strategy
  • Leveraging an interagency council on program management to share best practices

This signature of the American President Barack Obama demonstrates the importance of Project Management in the United States – on its highest level. IAPM fully supports this initiative. Numerous scientific analyses have shown that companies with institutionalized project management not only are better in managing projects, but are also more successful in the operational domain. IAPM`s purpose is to foster project management by having the project manager in its focus. Management of a project has many entrepreneurial aspects and allows demonstrating leadership capabilities already very early in the career. As often, the United States are taking the lead again in a very important field showing us in other countries where we will need to improve in order to keep up.

IAPM supports those initiatives for project managers world-wide. For more information read here.
