This week, these three articles were particularly inspiring:
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT: TIPS FOR PROJECT MANAGERS - German language
We speak of conflict management when it comes to resolving conflicts or avoiding them completely. These measures are important because unresolved conflicts can have negative consequences for the team and thus for the project. Moreover, the occurrence of conflicts cannot be entirely prevented, especially when they occur naturally in a project, such as conflicts over goals. The first step after identifying a conflict is to assess it. This involves finding out why the conflict has arisen and how the parties behave towards each other. The emotional level must not be neglected. After the analysis has taken place and a solution strategy has been determined, the conflict must be resolved by the parties. The motivation for resolution should be intrinsic. Moderation tailored to the conflict parties is essential.

Thoughtful Expectation Setting in Project Management
Every person has expectations. This is a good thing, because these expectations are something we want to achieve and their fulfilment is thus one of the foundations for a fulfilled life, whether private or professional. In the professional environment, it is necessary for managers to deal with the expectations of their employees, because satisfied employees have a positive effect on the working atmosphere and performance and thus also on the success of the company. Addressing the issue has become very important, especially since the outbreak of the pandemic. This is because the demand for a better work-life balance and for employers who take care of their employees is growing. A concrete and comprehensive approach to this issue is therefore becoming increasingly important. Moreover, the new approaches should be formulated SMART so that misunderstandings or false expectations are avoided.

The Order of Events in Scrum Matters
With the increasing interconnectedness of the world and the associated fast-moving nature of information or products, an increasing use of agile methods such as Scrum can be observed in project management. Perhaps you have already gained experience with it yourself? Scrum is also becoming increasingly popular in projects outside of information technology – possibly because digitalisation does not stop here. Perhaps also because this framework dissolves the rigidity from the traditional project world and represents an antithesis to phase-driven project management. But even the best-known agile framework cannot unfold its full potential if it is applied incorrectly. This includes not only the incomplete integration of Scrum, but also the disregard of Scrum Values or even a wrong sequence of Scrum Events! Above all, the order is possibly more important than many Scrum Masters would be aware of – and after all, they are the ones who are responsible for the successful implementation of Scrum within an organisation. But why the order of those Events is perhaps more important than you think, you’ll only find out in this article.
