“The people running projects are generally to blame for project crises and, in many cases, these crises can be foreseen at the outset of the project.” Truth or fiction? 30.08.2013 - Is the chaos of the large-scale Berlin Airport and Stuttgart 21 projects in Germany comparable to the severe crisis that NASA experienced in the mid-1980s? Yes it is according to Dr Hans Stromeyer, Representative of the International Association of Project Managers (IAPM), coach and proprietor of the management consultancy firm, Stromeyer & Partners.

In a lengthy article, Hans Stromeyer discusses the fundamental mechanisms that existed back in the 1980s and today which make it difficult for crisis managers to get projects in crisis back on track. The article was abbreviated for publication in the trade press, so we’ve published the full length version here as a download, including practical tips and recommended reading.
