The International Association of Project Managers (IAPM) is a globe-spanning association and certification body for project managers.
Purpose and functions
The IAPM's purpose is to promote project management competence.
Its functions include:
- To process and communicate project experiences plus education and research knowledge
- To promote project management research, development and practical application
- To foster international cooperation
- To improve quality standards in project management
- To develop and elaborate project management standards
- To define guidelines for basic and advanced project management training
- To review and improve project management competence by way of competence assessments and certifications
- To consolidate and communicate in-depth project management knowledge in specific fields at international and regional level
It achieves its purpose by:
- Promoting and publishing specialist literature
The IAPM is an altruistic organisation, i.e. it does not pursue activities solely for its own economic advantage. IAPM funds may only be utilised in accordance with the Articles of Association.
